Hi from Italy!

Hi all,
surfing the net looking for info about an OBD2 Arduino interface and protocols, I just came across this nice forum.
Looks beautiful and with a great source of ideas. I just need to read a lot more...
I've always been fascinated by EV, but in Italy the DIY route is very difficult if not impossible.
I hope to give my contribution to the community anyway, I love open source ideas...
I'm a satellite engineer with a while open variety of different passions, mechanics, offroad, astronomy, electronics, radio amateur and alike... a crazy guy, with an electronic little lab, which is also my business and a little mechanic shop, different tools, bits and pieces scattered between the shops, as usual
Ok that is all for now.
Ciao!

Ignazio

put more emphasis on the "read a lot more" there are so many ideas on here that are just about driving technique and not even adding mods. since i have joined this site i have done 0 mods to my car and just changed the nut behind the wheel and have gained 4mpg getting my car up to the combined mileage it should be at instead of the city average and its still climbing

How do the authorities keep DIY'ers from modifying there vehicals? after all the only real issue is the basic safety of the modification.

You can not even imagine how restricted are the rules on vehicles in Italy!!
To name few, we can't even change the wheels to different size than stock, use different fuels, use a combination of fuels, add extra fog lights, not to mention touching the engine, we can't replace the engine itself with another one exactly the same, unless you go with endless burocracy...
That's spaghetti, mandolino, pizza country...
