New lurker
Howdy hey.
I found out about this after all the furor about basjoos AeroCivic mod made it's appearance on Makezine.com. I'm driving a 2000 Jetta GLX (fully loaded Jetta with the VR6 motor). Currently I'm averaging 25MPH in San Diego area, but am definitely interested in getting better fuel consumption values. I'm primarily on the freeways (about the only way to get around in San Diego) but do a small amount of surface driving. |
Welcome to the site! Good to have you around. Hopefully you do more than lurk. :)

Well its in the plans. I've already had several good ideas pop up.
I'm curious I know the VR6 typically runs warm anyways (or most peoples do) but I'm thinking about putting in an airdam on pretty much all but the openings in the VW logo itself. Ultimately I'd like to do something a bit more extravagant and use a couple servos and a controller to control the dam vs. engine temp. (kind of like WWII fighters used to do). I'm also looking at a full belly pan. Not certain about the mirror delete I'm going to play with some internals, but I have automated externals that I'm reluctant to remove. |
Good Morning, Greetings and Salutations,
I am not sure how the VR6 will react to front air block, but, On my daughters Jetta (2.0), she hasn't noticed a difference yet. I blocked all the openings on the lower bumper cover, leaving the grill itself open. My plan is to block the grill as well. But, I gotta get the car from her first. I only told her last weekend that I covered her bumper openings. I got caught. Happens. Anyways, Welcome and enjoy,(there's a LOT of stuff here, and more everyday).S. |
