New from Minnesota cobalt

I'm on here new from MN and really like the site. I have a 2006 cobalt ls with no options except cruise, auto tranny(damn) and a rear spoiler. So far from just reading your tips ive gone from like 22-24 city to 30 avg so far! Is there any good from an upgraded PCM for these cars? whats the easiest mod i can do (other than my driving lol) is a kn filter a good thing or no? my car came with one.

The K&N might give you more top end power if the standard air filter doesn't flow enough for the engine. It won't do anything for MPG. And it will let more dirt into the engine. I had one and I took it out. I got tired of seeing the film of dirt on the "clean" side of my intake.

Bummer on the auto transmission, but good work on the gain in MPG so far.

The easiest mod is probably pumping up your tires. After that, a partial grille block. It may improve economy by a couple of percent for a few minutes of work (more so at higher speeds, less so in stop & go city driving).

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome.

Like metrompg said inflate tires

With the winter coming in a grill block and wai would benefit you quite a bit rite now

Smooth wheel covers would be another bigger mpg gain, i personally gained about 1mpg going from steel wheels to placing a cover over the wheel. I attached a pic of my wheel covers which I feel blend in with the car quite well

Gealii - your DIY wheel covers are just like 2000Neon's - except a bit more stealthy. :)

They were modeled off of his actually. 2000neon is the person who got all the gears spinning in my head for mods on my car just for the fact that our cars a basically the same 4 door 4 cyl auto tranny just i got a 4 speed instead of a 3

warm air intake it is basically the same as a cold air intake just instead of pulling in cool air from outside it pulls the warm to hot air from inside the engine bay

I know it was already answered, but here is a good link describing why a Warm Air Intake does what it does. Just be forewarned that newer vehicles' computers may not always like them.

Some people do not have calculatible results from wheel covers, but I hope it works well for you. A lot of people, including me, like the air dam/air splitter. I made one, and bought the other.

Nice work so far!
