New VW super econ offering concept (trike)

They say they will sell it for $17k if there's interest. Do you think there is enough interest?

Pretty freaking sweet, dude, :) I'd rock one.

Compaq888 04-24-2008 12:58 AM

For 17k...no way...plus it's more tuned for spirited driving...what they need to do is get the gear ratios right and put a more economical engine.. that thing will easily get 60+mpg and a price tag of 10k or less

Fuel efficiency COULD be better, but that looks like it would be a blast to drive.

Dradus 04-24-2008 02:06 AM

Um, have they heard of electric?

No one is going to be driving that super long distances, so even if it had the range of an Aptera, it doesn't really compete in the high efficiency market. I'd put 20,000 towards the all electric, full cockpit sweetness of the Aptera instead. I'd make up the difference in ga$ savings by not having to buy any.

It looks absolutely badass. Like a concept of the Batman trike. If they made it something other than gasoline powered, I'd buy it, sure,

I wonder if it would be possible to build a "greasecar" analog?

OfficeLinebacker -

I like it! How about $12K and an enclosed cabin?

That reversetrike.com website is grand.

The is old news. The program has already been canceled because of liability concerns even though VW had a few prototypes running around doing development testing.

Figjam74 04-24-2008 01:51 PM

Hmm.. It looks suspiciously like the t-rex. http://www.go-t-rex.com/

meemooer 04-24-2008 10:43 PM

I want one for sure. With a small turbo diesel engine, maybe even a hybrid it would rock like no other for me.
Hmm... i wonder what could be home built like this?
