The versions currently available in Brazil have a manual transmission, but their torque rating is slightly lower than the automatic ones. Well, after the demise of the manual transmission in the American versions of the Silverado (altough they're still available in Mexico), I could expect this trend to be extended to the compact trucks.

If it comes with a manual trans I'll trade my 2012 4 banger canyon in on one. It does ok mpg wise for a 4wd...but not great. It also struggles with my boat on steep inclines loaded near the max gvw (gear in the back/boat, passengers, etc).

How do the international trucks do for fuel mileage, Rooster? Something tells me that the American ones will be choked down clean diesels that barely get 40mpg...

I get better than 35 MPG in summer. With a gas engine. Maybe I don't need a diesel.....

BINGO!!!

New diesels are being choked down just like V8s in the 70s. The fuel sipping supremacy of diesels is long gone given the new emissions garbage they are adding to these engines.

Usually the cost of the diesel option is quite expensive, not to mention the expensive maintenance parts when it needs service. Consider cost of diesel engine vs gas, then of diesel fuel vs gas, and when you see that the diesel option in only getting 8 more mpg you see that its going to take a LONG time for your investment to pay for itself...

Now if there are tuners out there and kits to remove emissions stuff...I'm betting that modern diesels could be good for high 50mpg in small cars...but that is all speculation, I'm not completely familiar with new diesels and their potential...

Around here diesel goes for about 50 cents more per gallon than regular gas. My Ranger would have to average about 38 MPG to cover the cost of diesel versus regular.

The Fiesta would have to get 53 MPG.

But yours is smaller, lighter, aeromodded and has a manual transmission. The new one is a different animal, wider and with a large frontal area, and not so aeroynamic as it may eventually look from the pictures.
