Newbe, 2001 Civic HX
 

Hello Everyone. Been lurking for years, thought I'd finally join. Picked up a 01 Civic HX a few months ago. It's the CA model, but I've been happy with the economy so far.

I added the fuel log info for the Civic. It was easy, just 8 fill ups since I bought it. I also have an Acura TSX. I've 150 fill ups logged for it. Is there an easy way to import them to this site, like you can on fuelly? I really don't want to do it one by one.

Welcome! Sorry, I do not know anything about the fuel logs; hopefully someone else speaks up. Do you have any modifications planned? Do you have a meter?

No real mods planned. I have the tires at max pressure and run a scangauge. I'm thinking about getting the ultraguage, so I can monitor lean burn.

Any problems other than the headgasket? Headgasket failures and tranny problems are very common on these Civics.

Other than the head gasket, it's been fine. It threw a cel at me one day, tdc sensor. I pushed on the connection to make sure it was tight and cleared the code. It hasn't came back since. What are the tranny issues with this generation? I can tell it's a good car, but it doesn't seem as good as my last civic. She was a 6th gen EX coupe. Such a rock solid car. Put over 260k on her. Woke up one morning and she was gone. Broke my heart.

I hate that. I had my old motorcycle stolen. It was a little rough, but I loved that bike and put a bunch of miles on it.

Manual trannies tend to lose the Input Shaft Bearing (ISB), both of my trannies had that go out. Also, there is a bearing that can go if you run low on fluid that causes third gear to get noisy and start popping out of gear. Autos are also problematic. Honda had widespread issues with tranny failures from '01-'05 Civics and about '99-'04 Accords, Odysseys, and Pilots. There was a big class action lawsuit a while back on it.

I bought mine because of how fond I was of my old '95 EX coupe. Between the two, the '95 was definitely the better car.
