One in four Americans 'do not know the Earth circles the Sun' - Telegraph
Damn right too, as it doesn't, right? ;)

Ah well, I believe a fair percentage of people in all countries have no clue about the most basic of the celestial workings. Some even read horoscopes.

This, while school spending goes through the roof.

I once came into possession of a teacher's aide's notebook; it was so full of misspellings and other errors, it appeared to have been written by an illiterate idiot. Oy.

You don't have to go there to find bad grammar and misspelled words, just read any forum, here included.

The Earth certainly doesn't travel in a circle.

Most people think that the Earth circles (not getting into Kepler's laws, or into the orbital dynamics of a flat disc on a turtle's back) the Sun, but 1 American in 4 knows that both circle their common center of mass. Good for them!
The fact that this center of mass is deep inside the Sun is of less importance at the moment...;)

Closer to the truth is that the Moon does not circle the Earth. In fact, their orbits are such that many call the pair a double planet, almost like Pluto and Charon.

Somewhat ironically, the Telegraph also contains horoscopes in their "culture" section
