Wow. I encourage folks to click the link and watch the video. They took a small town that was drowning in traffic, and they literally transformed it. Food for thought indeed.

What I find most interesting is the center of the circles have no island. People can be seen cutting the edge and at times quite a bit of the center. That wouldn't fly here our traffic people wold have to put up those plastic divider poles. Ever notice those white lines before a turn lane, that indicate you shouldn't move over just yet? What a waste of paint. It goes back to our kindergarten training stand in a straight line, face forward and most of all no taking.

When the hurricane/earth quake hit here we had no power in alot of areas. Many intersections had non functioning lights. Surprisingly very little accidents. Although many including myself didnt treat them as a 4 way stop many slowed down to the point you can slam on the brakes if a guy from the other direction was coming.

Of course then you have 4 cars in a plus shape in the middle of an intersection within a car length of each other. :eek:

If it was up to me, i would ban cars in city centers and have everyone driving "rideshare" electric go-carts. Ease congestion, save gas, better parking. That would be my utopian vision.
