Audi's Green light Computer

Looks like audi is working on a system that would be great for hypermilers!

The Audi Travolution, let's you know when the light will change.

Sounds great, except I don't have too much trouble with this. Most of the time when I am coasting to a red light I get lucky. When the car is off at a signal light, I can tell when my light is about to turn green because of the other cars speeding past the yellow lights followed by perpendicular direction cars stopping.

I'm not sure that thing would pay off financially if they charge something like >$250 for it.

Yah, I typically don't need a computer to tell me that. It probably won't tell me when someone is getting in their car two blocks away and be a likely candidate to be in my way when I get there, or if there is a line of traffic at the light that will take a while longer to get moving after the light. Or if there are pedestrians approaching a crosswalk. I can time the end of the train and the clearing of the cars pretty well myself. I encounter a LOT more than stoplights.

It's a good start, but I'm sure I will hypermile circles around any such system for a long time to come

Aw, I saw your name as the latest post in this thread and was halfway expecting something about this being included in the next MPGuino software version

Funny though, I was watching the electric drag motorcycle and thinking about a circuit to watch the christmas tree and predict the green and eliminate reaction time by turning on the motor itself I'm sure I'm not the first one to have that thought, and there are certainly rules against it.

That's interesting. I want to know how it pans out. I think most "dynamic" traffic light systems have cameras with people to see the traffic.

We'll just be little auto-network packets soon, .
