noob here
Hi all,
I've been lurking for a while and, and in addition to installing a vacuum gauge today I decided I'd join in the discussion. I've been driving gently and maintaining my truck in hopes for better mpg and I hope I can ask around here for ideas in maximizing what I have. Even though it's a truck, it's a pretty economical 5 speed Chevy S10 2.2l 4 banger. I usually get 23-25mpg with no mods (my canopy is the only thing not stock) and I'm hoping my new vac gauge will help teach me how to drive more efficient. If I can hit 30 mpg for city/hwy mix I'll be one jolly SOB! |
Welcome. Learning to drive more efficantly is the best mod you can make. there are also some cheap and easy mods that will help put you over that 30 mpg goal you have. Feel free to ask any questions you have.:D

thanks for the greeting. just filled my tank for the first time after installing my vac gauge and saw a modest 3% increase to 23.54 mpg
i'm figuring out my truck and my commute better each day, hoping for 24mpg on this tank! |
Hey! Air up those tires to max sidewall, that will help lower rolling resistance, also look into some aero mods, they can push you to over that 30mpg figure. I gained about 10% fe with a 4" airdam on my car, before mods I had about the same mpg as your truck. Also a grill block would probably help (esp in winter).
