New Guy with WJ Grand Cherokee

Hey everyone, Im Jon, i have a fleet of cars, most are pretty good on mpg, but my Grand Cherokee it just not great.

Im hitting 14mpg in town and 18 on the highway.

Its got the 4.0 and AWD, so its not the worst combo. Im going to start trying so MOds to help it out.

First Im thinking about blocking the lower bumper openings hopefully connecting the air flow with that of the front engine skid plate, but not ruining cooling capabilities, because I live In Florida, its always hot.

Any Help would be awesome, and im glad to be here!

Welcome I think you may benefit most from the mod on the top of my list. A bellypan... I think that the larger the vehicle the more it will gain from a pan. I love the jeep 4.0 best low end torque in any vehicle I have driven ... and bullet proof!

Is there anything else in your fleet with better MPG that would be better to use than the Jeep?

Welcome to the forum.

I just traded a 01' Cherooke sport for my saturn. Things I had heard where belly pan like above^ and a skid plate actually helps clean up air flow under the body.

Here is a good thread you should browse through. Its one I looked at quite a bit.

Hope that helps! and good luck!

Welcome! I'm glad for you that your vehicle has been public on here, so your help should be pretty instant!

Thanks for the help guys. My wife drives a 4 cylinder e36 BMW that gets 25mpg in town and 30mpg on the highway at 80mph. I have another e30 BMW that i originally built to race, so its got some parasitic loss cut out. ei no AC no power steering, which is great when the weather is nice, but i live in central Florida... where its hot all the time.
