Now that's an Air Dam!!!

Got to work the other morning and saw this in the parking lot.

I'm sure it's not for aerodynamics so much as it's 'cool', but still 'cool' aerodynamically speaking.

Air-bag suspension at full 'On the Ground' stance, non-running.

JasonG 12-11-2013 06:45 PM

Is that a hatch or a mini-van ?
Please tell me someone didn't slam, big grill and ground effect a mini-van !

Toyota Sienna mini-van...

I won't tell you what they did, you can see for yourself.

MetroMPG 12-11-2013 07:08 PM

Best slammed minivan I've seen today!

AntiochOG 12-11-2013 08:31 PM

Love it!

It's been known to happen:

What pains me most is admitting I kind of like how it looks.

wmjinman 12-11-2013 10:44 PM

How LOW can you GO?!?!

Nope! No big grill! :D

Oh that stance!

So what's the miles per tire on that, like 100?

jakobnev 12-12-2013 04:03 AM

I'm hoping to see one that has the front wheels of the ground some day.

elhigh 12-12-2013 09:27 AM

Okay, no huge grille.

Will a bigger airdam compensate for lack of grillishness?

I'm not sure how "mini" this thing is, or if it ever was if it still qualifies. After the first quarter-ton of fiberglass geegaws, I think such minutiae as "mini-" ness goes out the window.

Those are some serious side skirts, but all the benefit goes away when you get to the double sized (!?) rear wheel well.

Fat Charlie 12-12-2013 11:28 AM

No, that's a full sized van. You'd expect the aero elements to be bigger.

Xist 12-12-2013 12:14 PM

How well could the pink van plow snow?

Fat Charlie 12-12-2013 12:44 PM

Zambonis don't plow.

I dunno, but I recently saw a Civic that was "stanced" like that on the side of a rough road. It looked like the tire popped off its bead and lost all the air pressure.... which dropped it all the way to the ground and tore up the ground effects. The owner was looked very perplexed as I drove by. I presume he was thinking "how the F do I get a jack under it...?"

Fat Charlie 12-12-2013 03:53 PM

Plenty of room under the outer edge of the rim! :D

aerohead 12-12-2013 04:56 PM

out the window

At least they're generous to provide refreshments at the front 'bumper.':p

Superfuelgero 12-12-2013 06:54 PM

Not that low, but it gets me around.
