OBDII Problem

Hello,

I ordered an ELM327 off ebay one of the cheap ones, anyways I got it, installed the drivers and some software and I got it up and running pretty quickly, I tested it on my 2001 Neon, and 2005 G6, it works on both, but the G6 wouldnt read the RPM's or anything. But I was able to check the service endine codes and that, I will be testing it on my friends Caravan in about 10 minutes.

Anyways, all was working fine but then when I brought my right foot in the car I kicked it, and now it wont work any more on the Neon!!!

It still reads like it did on the G6...

Did I break my ODB2 port? Do you think this is fixable? How much would this cost? How hard would it be for me to fix it? I don't have that much experience with working with cars but I do do electrical work (wiring soldering and all that)

Anyways, what is your guys opinions? Am I screwed?

Thanks!

I don't know. Did you try disconnecting and reconnecting the ELM? I had some communication problems with my Elmscan version, and they sent me a new one. Later on, I theorized that it was too many processes running on my PC that was causing the problem.

you may be right, I tried a few times and I couldnt get it going, after I tried it out on the Caravan (which worked like a charm) I tried it again on my Neon and all was good, I had a bit of fun with it but it is late so soon I am off to sleep. I am gonna read a bit more obout OBD2 and the stuff on here.

Anyways it seems to be working again so I guess I didnt break my port

I'll be around, this site seems really cool.
