Odd... NEV? Solar powered chariot
 

I found this today and had to share. The owner claims that it is just as efficient as a wheeled setup which I don't believe at all. It is still an interseting machine though. It also looks like he has a sweet little electric trike.

I find it hard to believe too.

ALSO: the mechanism is based on the wheel. The motor output is a shaft after all :)

And in a couple of shots you can see a gear (wheel!) in the "hip" area working the legs.

It is pretty cool though. And his modded Corbin Sparrow? Wide track Pontiac!

If that guy is right then bicycles are less efficient then walking.
