off road trailer

so basically i am planning on building an off road railer/ kinda like a tear drop.. trailer and wondering if it would be worth the trouble making the trailer an ev... not to push me but just help pull its own weight so like on steep hills and stuff so there is less stress on my engine... any thoughts?

I've thought about doing that for bike trailers, basically the controller throttle would hook up to a hitch that has the mechenisem to operate brakes, but even more complex so it gives just a slight push at all times, push to hard and it turns off.

yeah thats pretty rad... it seems like it would help soften the load...i am trying to figure out the best way of making this esspecially with the whole off roading part...so any input would help

A simpler solution might be to make the trailer a 'range pack'. Line the sides with secured batteries, leaving plenty of room for cargo in the middle, perhaps with covers/dividers between cargo and batteries. You would match the secondary pack to the primary(36V for a 36V bike etc)and then add a plug for instant Parallel-voila! almost twice the range.

Admittedly, this wouldn't give you any more climbing ability, but at least your power supply wouldn't drain so quickly...also, i'd be leery of steering with an extra motor loosely linchpinned behind you!

If my extreme poverty and my studies ever let me get an EV bike of my own off the ground, i'll be using a Battery Trailer myself-i'm rural, and the nearest grocery store is a 20 mile round trip... :(
