Where to Find Discontinued Parts? (Civic Hybrid)

Hey everyone, one of the shift cables on my manual transmission '03 Civic Hybrid has seized and the part is no longer available from Honda. The part is specific to the '03 - '05 Civic Hybrids. I was wondering if anyone on here knows of any good places to find out of production parts but ones that aren't for "classic" cars, just one that is kind of old.

The part no. is 54310-S5B-A01. None of the official OEM places are going to have it. I called my local dealer and one of the big OEM parts sites and they both said the same thing. Apparently they get their parts from the same network.

I haven't run into this problem before so I am a little at a loss as what to do. I did a quick search and there wasn't anything on ebay.

Advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm seeing a couple indie places online who have them for $280+, ouch. If you take out the dashes, there's an eBay seller who has two of them, but for $400 each.

This is the part for the 2001-2005 non-hybrid M/T shift cable.
54310-S5A-A03
https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-...ift-lever.html

I would be fairly shocked if there is any major difference from the hybrid model. The shifter itself is the same (identical part number), and the transmission is only slightly different.

Compare to the 54310-S5b-A01 (Civic Hybrid) here:

Obviously, YMMV. But you should be able to yank a Civic 5MT shifter cable at a pick and pull for peanuts if you wanted to try it out.

Link or site names for the $280 ones please? By the way, $400 was Honda's list price.

I will look into that, thanks.

samwichse's link was one of the first Google hits I got. Here's another one, for $267.83 right now: 54310-S5B-A01 Wire, Change | Genuine Honda OEM Parts : Genuine Honda OEM Parts & Accessories | Original Honda Parts

I can't vouch for any of the indie stores, but it seems like there are at least some of these parts floating around the system. A much better situation than some other out-of-production cars!
