Thinking about it. Registering here was a big step for me; I don't do that much. I couldn't find any privacy policy beyond "We don't share...". They never talk about their internal security.

However, this is a splendid example of a boxed step cavity. How did you get there from a full aerocap?

Understand about the privacy policy.

I give out my info selectively for the same reason you do. As far as going from an aerocap to a box cavity spoiler for the rear window, the spoiler is much easier and cheaper to produce. Thanks for your consideration on a vote.

Thanks for understanding. That said, best of luck.

Was the % gain a one time thing or averaged over a variety of vehicles? Because it sounds pretty good. Does it interact with air dams in the front?

How does that compare to what you were getting with with a full aerocap?

Also... Are you ready to think about a perforated base plate that retracts against a pickup's tailgate?

bondo 08-29-2017 03:33 PM

The percentage gain was derived from data gained while road testing the device on my F150 and from having one installed on Dr. Anamaat's Chevy pickup. The front air dam is there, as you know to reduce turbulence under the vehicle so it does not directly interact with the rear window spoiler. The rear window spoiler works best in conjunction with a tonneau cover.

The aerocap produced a greater fuel economy increase mainly due to it's greater scale. I am unfamiliar with the perforated panel you speak of and I will have to research that.

The reason I asked about air dams is that Porsche found when they started experimenting with spoilers at the rear it unbalanced the car without an air dam. Yours is between the wheelbase, so

Have you tried an half-tonneau? http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post338480
There's a chart with pickup truck bed mods (that I may not find before my browser crashes). It showed a cab wing and half-tonneau combination was ~equal to an aerocap.

Have you consulted with kach22i? Photobucket ate all his posted pix —(:()— but Google cached this thumbnail:

I've posted a screenshot of the U of Warwick study on perforated base plates. Or maybe it was Morelli's Lupo? I'll try to find something.

Any progress on this? Are these going to be for sale?
