I feel like there are ways this could have been done correctly. That should include an air system, which they did, but wouldn't they use a bed-mounted fifth-wheel hitch? Would you have called the cops or taken a picture and gotten out of the way? https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...-long-trailer/

That looks way safer than the 5th wheel trailer my dad pulled with something like a 1960 Chevy truck.

My dad cut a semi-circle out of 2 boards so that when they were placed together, would capture the 5th wheel ball between them. Then he bolted the boards to the side rails. The emergency chain was a come along winch cable.

Went through a full tank of gas going about 100 miles roundtrip. Ran out about 4 miles from home.
