Some of the fastest dragsters ever were electric powered.

Charge 100 liters of water using a 100kw electrical heater for 40 minutes = 214mph in 2.5 seconds!!!

That is 67 kwh of energy input, less than a fully charged tesla.

214 mph in 2.5 sec: water-powered record stands the test of time

Of course the performance is irrelevant, crowds are more interested in noise and smell :/

I just checked, a top fuel dragster uses ~22 gallons in warmup, burnouts and run, like 830kwh of energy per run! and it is ~$30/gallon fuel! Plus some very expensive machinery and crew.

I've seen a few of these. Like in so many other things ecomodder-oriented, lightness is good, getting up to speed early is good (very good), and it isn't HHO.

I think that makes the 0-60 1.73 seconds.

Could that be done with a solar furnace?

[Boring math follows]

343.52 km/h = 95.4 m/s

It accelerated for 2.5 seconds, so it traveled for somewhere near 239 m while accelerating.

239^.4 = 8.94 m/sē

60 MPH = 96.5606 KPH = 26.8224 m/s
8.94 m/sē = 26.8224 m/s
sē = 26.8224/8.94
√sē = √3.000268 = 1.732128
