Opposed-piston opposed-cylinder engine claims 50% FE increase
|
Besides the Ilmore, Ecomotor has some fascinating ideas!!!
I have long been intrigued by the opposed piston layout; this is a potentially vast improvement on that. Their clutched engine module idea is something I've long wanted to see as well. Electric Turbo? I sure wouldn't have thought the electric part compatible with turbo rpm range... but they think it is? Hmmm. Cool if it works. I understand the Ilmore concept but don't have any intuition about how that could work well... the operation of that expansion cylinder confuses me. |
Bookmarked. I'll be watching this for future developments. Thanks Adam.

This has been posted before, here on EcoModder:
http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ring-5114.html And check out the Revetec engine with the trilobate cam driven output -- it is ~38% efficient, which is 2X as efficient as a conventional crankshaft engine... |
California
There's a group in California that is trying for a contract to provide a low-cost SUV for the military. It utilizes an engine quite similar to what is shown in the article.
They would also like to sell the vehicle to civilians, but it would not have this engine. |
I have seen this. It is a dyslexic mentally challenged individual who forgot there was an 8 valved 3 main bearing boxer engine written in the book of immortal infamy.
He'd win the special olympics and humored with a trophy. It is nice to see a name on something crazy from VW..they usually hide their engineers that raped the world of truth. |
Interesting. I'll keep an eye on that one. Electrically enhanced turbo is a nifty idea all by itself.
