OTA TV is being taken down in my area.

Yep, no more Super Bowl for me. The local entity that provides repeaters to re-broadcast OTA TV in my area is going to use the tax funds for other recreational things. The reasons are:
  • The repeater towers are in bad shape and need millions of dollars of renovations.
  • They are on leased land, and some leasers are not willing to keep renewing the lease.
  • The company Comcast, that was providing the satellite link to rebroadcast the stations here, will no longer provide such service.
  • There is the switch to ATSC 3.0 that is up in the air as to how that's supposed to go within the next few months or years.
  • And of course, few people watch OTA TV anymore.
