I'm pretty interested in looking at leasing one of these. I wouldn't qualify for the full $7500 (more like $3800) incentive, so maybe a lease would be the way to go.

This tester went 30 miles all electric and it still showed 8 miles range.

Overall a 566 mile range on a 19 gallon tank with still a few gallons left. I bet a few tricks and a hypermiller's touch would get over 700 miles using the whole tank.

When they announced this I was interested, I looked at the standard version and was very impressed. Now this seems like a no brainer. My wife would rarely need to even use the gas day to day, yet still great for family vacations.

16kwh battery...not bad....too bad it's in such a big vehicle, or that would get you twice as far on all electric.

Leasing is definitley the way to go if you want one. I used to like chysler but lately their quality is absolute crap.

A hypermiler will beat the numbers pretty easily as I'm finding out.

My 2012 Volt is rated for 35 miles of range, and that's what the car showed on the display the first few times I fully charging it.

Fast-forward a couple of months and it now shows a 45 mile range after a charge, and this morning I drove 19.1 miles to work and it shows 28 miles of range left.

In 1,500 miles I've increased the lifetime mpg from 107 mpg to 112 mpg and the car had 51K miles on it when I bought it.

I like the idea of this van if only because it's the first hybrid/PHEV implementation in this segment. Maybe it'll get people out of less efficient SUV's and back into minivans?

The styling is pretty slick, too. Subjective, of course!

Keep in mind FCA designed a custom route for the journalists to drive in warm California that would be EV-mode friendly.

That said, likely any one of us here would be able to get better numbers out of it than the official rating.

I know something smaller would be better but 30 miles is enough for most of the time and then unlike a pure electric if you need more 32mpg is pretty spectacular for 8 passenger and room behind the 3Rd row for luggage. Or the ability to fit something 4'x8' in the back with 2 people, or long, skinny, 12' long things and still close the hatch. Once you've had a minivan with kids, you can't give them up. We have tried wagons, crossovers, and SUVS and always have gone back sooner or later.

I hope this thing sells well and spurs Toyota to do the same to its minivan.

They've sold a hybrid minivan in Japan for years (a bit smaller than the Sienna). Forbidden fruit here.
