Painting coroplast smooth covers
 

How would I go about painting these to hold up to dirt roads as I travel my 1st and last mile on dirt roads, I have thought about rubber undercoat and then paint, and I have thought about plasti-dip or spray bedliner, I also know that coroplast is a slick plastic and it is hard for regular paints to adhere to, all ideas will be noted.

Rough it up gently with 600 grit, spray with white Krylon or Rustoleum.

I would go with Plasti Dip... Nothing I used would get paint to stick to the coroplast I used on my Malibu, if not for wanting to color match, I woulda sprayed with black PD and been done... Be sure to get it nice and thick and get the edges just as thick, and it'll be fine, or it was on hubcaps I painted...

My grille block is cloroplast. Sprayed it satin black with Hammerite - similar to Rustoleum - after roughing it up and degreasing and its stuck like dog doo to a picnic blanket.

I have never attempted to paint coroplast.

I have used regular automotive paint on wheels and it chips off after a while.

I have used spray on plastidip on wheels and it works nicely.

I have noticed spay paint at the hardware store made to stick to plastic.

In lieu of painting anything, perhaps wrap with a vinyl or other fabric?

Is this all about a color change to hide the dirt?

What color did you have in mind?

Cleaning and sanding, sanding and cleaning.............going to be as much work as the original project I suspect - if done right.

Krylon for plastic worked good for me. Not scratch proof but lasts over a year. And i dont remember sanding before just cleaning.

There exist adhesion promoters that would let you use anything; but spray for plastic or Plastidip are fit for purpose.

Wrap the edges with aluminum tape first to close the flutes. Re-establish the ':)'.

I'd ditch the coro and get some pizza pans, then if you want you can powdercoat them. Much better results and you know they'll last. By the the time you buy adhesion promoter, primer and colour coat, you'll be at close to the cost of professional powdercoating. I know which I'd rather have.
