Piezoelectric generators
Anyone working with them in the automotive world, especially as a NVH enhancement particularly?
I mean, cars use all kinds of noise and vibration damping, seems to me that some piezo generators as engine mounts, for instance, have the potential to create a decent amount of electricity from wasted engine movement. Fuel savings, engine wear and tear savings, more power to the wheels (no alternator), etc.. Is the tech just not up to par yet? |
They should line the walls with these in various kid friend stores so they can use the screams of children to power the lights.

I was MCD getting breakfast when it seemed they just light up a sign out front that said today was national bring your screaming children to eat day.

Piezoelectric is low power density, mostly brittle crystals, expensive, and high impedance. But it would be really nice if there was a practical way to get useful power out of vibration damping.
