pizzapan racing disc bolt on's with pics

i installed these pizza pans on my echo's steel rims in about two hours, the last two of them in the dark, i saw other guys velcro'ing, chaulking, gluing tierapping these things on ,(im too paranoid for that). so i drilled 1/4 inch holes aligned up with the lugnut holes ,then inserted the 1/4" x3/4" long bolts thru the back side of the rim and put a nut on the front side to hold it into place. Then centered the pans on top of the rims and hit the pans with a hammer gently to make marks where i needed to drill holes in the pan.all but one of them is almost perfecty positioned . and the one thats not is darned close. there is another more accurate method than sighting them im sure, but if your careful you can get them aligned right.then just use locknuts or regular ones and locktite to keep them from coming unscrewed. it takes about 2-4hrs to do the job depending how perfect you want them. The pans were discarded from a pizza joint so i dont have a source for those, my echo has 14 inch rims. all you need is a drill and maybe a hacksaw if your bolts stickout too far, more mods coming soon.

Awesome!
with a capital 'a'.

are your fasteners stainless?

moonmonkey 02-01-2010 09:46 PM

no sainless cost to much, after digging threw the trash for the pans i,ve got about 9$ in bolts and nuts, they are not galvinised either so now that you made me think of it, they will rust unless i paint them, the pans acually look better in person, the color of the pans matches my silver paint Kind-of. but maybe a murder treatment is in their future,,,translation for the nonthugs,,, murder out= to paint black.

even if you paint the tips of the fasteners, you risk rust stains on the pans.
i recommend greasing-up the threads of the steel bolts, but buy stainless nuts (and washers too, if you later choose to use any).

this looks great.

yeah looks good man

cant wait for the results

and is there anyway to load bigger pics?

Is the thickness of the steel rim where you drilled the holes adequate to maybe tap them and use low profile hex bolts to hold the trays in place?

Daox 02-02-2010 12:07 PM

Even if it is tappable, I'd still want a nut holding things on. We don't know how much that wheel flexes, add in any vibration and over time you have a good chance of getting a loose bolt.

moonmonkey 02-02-2010 09:10 PM

i even bolted my coroplast bellypans on. im with doax , i never want anything flying off my car, to answer the tap question yes the rim is thick enough, but the bolts and nuts with locknuts is much peice of mind,,,aloha im not smart enough to make the pictures bigger,, (i need to research how to do it).
