Planet of the Humans - Michael Moore

A very surprising new documentary was released by Michael Moore yesterday. Planet of the Humans. It surprised me that he was willing to offend his base, and even more that he was being fairly objective for a change. It's the point I often make that complex problems don't have easy answers, such as drive an EV, or put solar panels on your roof.

I used to think Moore was a charlatan, but this makes me think he's authentic.

While I disagree with some implied premises, such as nature being a perfect Garden of Eden, or that it has rights or values, the explicit premises seem to be right on.

I'm 53:00 in and they are burning trees to make electricity. I hope they get to some counterpoints in the time remaining.

I'm reminded of Lloyd kahn's essay Smart But Not Wise

The hippys were right, "We've got to get ourselves back to the Garden".

I found the documentary fell flat at the end. No solution is presented other than a vague "awareness", which is just another term for doing nothing. Breast cancer awareness raises money for men to wear pink clothing. I get it, breast cancer exists. They want me to volunteer to check for lumps or something?

Scott Adams points out that nuclear power is conspicuous by it's absence. Similarly, I was thinking hydropower. And OTEC.

As people get older and wiser we have a saying for that.
"Welcome to the Republican party".

Anyone who thinks nature is a perfect garden of eden is delusional. So called self proclaimed environments don't see it. But anyone who has spent any short period of time in the wilderness or owns land that is expected to uphold some sort of agricultural production know it.

That vague awareness you speak of is called virtue signaling.

I have seen sicko and bowling for columbine.

'Planet'

*myopic
*limited scope
*incomplete calculus
*conclusions based upon incomplete investigation/analysis
*dangerous implications for anyone acting on presented conclusions

Agreed. Although some need to hear the message.
