Transformer; kiddie wagon or midlife crisis car.

A transformable rear window section that could change the aero-profile of a fastback coupe to an expanded storage space, wagon or pickup.
Ecomodders have already pegged this idea for a while.

Another one that adjusts for either; more headroom or a better aero profile...

I had that idea 14 yrs ago, when I was 12. Mama shoulda listened... Coulda been millionaires...

...Then again, the R&D team over the Pontiac Aztec thought they had something going, too. Turned out they were right, with a spot on the top 10 ugliest vehicles of all time list!!!

(Nothing against the Aztec, I think the concept was great... Just VERY poorly executed!

How about a Shelby GT350 wagon?

If the Dodge Magnum was more successful, Ford should have built this to compete:

Cadillac CTS-V Wagon

VW Golf R (think AWD GTI)

Subaru Impreza WRX STi

BMW M3

These are all practical family cars as well as performance machines. I don't see why a guy would want some articulating liftback when he can haul a sofa in his Cadillac one day and beat on it at the track the next.

I get how it could be good for aero, but at that point you could buy a relatively cheap CRX or Miata track toy and keep your Prius for the daily commute.

Or paint your Prius red and convince yourself it's faster.
