My car's third catalytic converter started failing!

According to my records, it lasted 2 years, 6 months, and 4 days!

However, it didn't last anywhere near 25,000 miles!

I think that I will acid-wash it and hope for the best.

Question:
How much oil does your car burn?

My CEL is back yet again!

I think that I went 2,400 miles, while the code came back every 500 miles with the old cat with the same manufacturer and part number. It stayed away for 5,000 miles after I acid-washed it. I don't know how many washes the bleach can provide, but it cost $26 originally, but California98Civic hooked me up for free.

Thanks again!

When the code returned in April I used CRC's Turbo and Intake Valve cleaner, which is $12 at Wal-Mart.

The can is a little less than half as much as the acid and easier to use, but lasted a little over half as long. Mathematically this is better, but I am going to acid-wash and see if it goes another 5,000 miles.

The one problem with the acid wash was that it removed the coating from the outside and it rusted.

I think that I have lost about a quart of oil in 2,000 miles. I will top up when I get home.

What caused this?

By the way, Evan Fischer cats are back in-stock and I could make this go away for 30 months for $136, although if the oxygen sensors are dirty I can acid-wash them, too!

Made me look. Apparently the XFi has a catalytic converter.

I guess I need to learn the OBDII code for catalytic converter. Are the codes the same across different cars?

Probably the basic codes.

I should have cashed in after replacing my failed Evan Fischer cat with the same model for $86?

I really like not having CELs. I want to know as soon as my computer detects a problem.

Are rats eating my insulation?

If 12 is for No Fault Detected (should only flash once at power on) and mine flashes 12 every 4 seconds, maybe rats opossums are eating my insulation?

There are some oil stains under my Accord, so maybe she is leaking more than she is burning.

I cannot find any aftermarket fiberglass hood liners, just $170 Honda ones.

Presented, as they say, without comment:

www.autoblog.com: Craze for drug made from catalytic converters alarms Congo's capital

.....but one question does autoblog do clickbait?

Is this spam light?

I just realized this spammer stole JockoT's comment! https://ecomodder.com/forum/showthre...tml#post548717

My code returned yesterday, O'reilly's cleared it, and it came back 10-15 miles later. I am going to drive my Camry with bad shocks until I can take care of the cat.
