Possible CRX HF Mod Questions
I've ordered a MPGuino and am waiting to install it before doing any modifications to my CRX. I would like to establish a baseline first. BTW, does anyone know how long it takes to receive the MPGuino?
For now I've been trying different driving styles to see how that alters my MPGs. Mods I'm Considering: -Radio Delete, (I don't listen to it) -EGR Port Cleaning -Fuel Injectors Sonic Cleaned -Valve Adjustment -Increase Tire Pressure -VX Wheels w/ LRR Tires, (when the time comes) -Complete Tune-Up -FI Cut-Off Switch -Remove Spare Tire + Tools -SeaFoam Treatment -Amsoil 0W-30 Motor + Transmission -Lower Ride Height Questions: -Will I see a noticeable difference in fuel economy by lowering the ride height of my CRX? -Are the Civic VX wheels lighter than the 90 CRX HF wheels? -What LRR tires do you all like? The HF: http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k2...F/DSC_0128.jpg http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k2...s/DSC_0340.jpg Thank You, ~Jason |
the amount of mpg you save versus the cost of lowering is probably not that great, but lowering your car does increase fuel efficiency. For LRR tires, I prefer Bridgestone Ecopia EP422's, because those happen to be the cheapest in my area in my size. I'm sure it varies by region. Goodyear assurance fuel max and michelin energy savers are also good. I don't know about the weight of the wheels but I can guarantee that they are close in weight. I'm sure someone on here knows.
By the way, that is one clean CRX! you've got a great car to work with. |
Nice little car. I have seen the CRX phone dials described as 18lbs on honda tech. My VX wheels are 9.7lbs. Roughly you might double that number to figure rotational mass. Ride height, I plan to test lowered ride height using $30 clamps (plus an alignment) instead of committing to new coils for 20 times more. Deleting your radio will not make much difference. Don't mar that good-looking dash.

The original tires for the 1st-gen Insight (I think Bridgestone RE-90s in one particular size?) seem to have very low RR. Worth a look for those.
