Possible windshield mod...?
 

I noticed that the edge of the windshield of my Kia Rondo has a noticeable huge ‘edge’ to it...like about a 1/2” to 3/4” lip...the black portion.
It tapers off gradually as it goes to the top but it just seems that it must really catch the air.
Another mod I will be doing “post Scanguage install” will be to fill that gap as evenly as possible with a clear silicone. Does anybody see any issues with the addition of the silicone?

I believe that is there for rain. To block it from going around the sides of the car.

Actually, the lip is there deliberately! It reduces air resistance, strange as it may seem.

It is much better to have air flowing off the windscreen over the car than rolling around the A pillars to the side.
Because of the protruding A pillars there's more of a high pressure area ahead of the windscreen, which reduces the air speed over the windshield (and friction) and makes the aiir above it pass over the car more smoothly.

The same is true for the scooplike cavities in the sides of modern front bumpers. Create a stagnant high pressure area that makes the air around flow more smoothly over the car.

It's there to allow snow to build up in Winter and kill you[r visibility]. :eek:

And probably what RedDevil says. Anything facing forward is getting overwhelmed by oncoming air anyway, it slows and the pressure rises. There's more opportunity on the sides (mirrors) and tail.

And undercarriage?
