Pricing my 2004 Prius with Hymotion

Hi all. This is my first post here. I have a 2004 Prius. In Sept 2008 I had a Hymotion plugin kit installed by a local company (Green Car Company in Bellevue, WA). At that time the car had 32,500 miles and it now has about 47,800 miles.

I am selling the car (just bought a new Volt) and am trying to figure out a fair price. The car is in very good condition and everything works like new. I saw a recent sale here for Blue book plus $3k for the Hymotion kit. Is that a fair price? If not, what would you suggest?

Also, where is the best place to list this where PHEV fans would see it? I would prefer to sell it to someone who wants the Hymotion kit.

Thanks for your help. Mark

If it were for sale around here for less than 6500 I'd be putting the money together as we speak. That's VERY low mileage.

Price it higher than your bottom line price and see if you get any calls or emails. The mileage is super low for that year and definitely enhances value as long as you have documentation to prove the mileage.

You also need to explain what the hymotion kit can do so the buyer understands the range they could expect without any gas consumption. In my area that year and mileage would still easily push 10k plus in price without the kit.

Depending on how badly you need to sell start at say 15 then drop the price if you get no serious offers from buyers. Less than that price would probably sell quicker.

I agree^

I should clarify that 6500 would be a steal. I wouldn't balk at 9000+.

$9k is even a total steal for a Prius with only 49k miles without the Hymotion kit.

BenNelson recently purchased an 04 or 05 with similar miles with a Hymotion kit in it. I forget the exact price, but it was in the mid teens which IMO is a fair price. This was before gas prices went through the roof too.

Something also to note, less than 5% of used Prius's sell by owner.

Most are dealer purchased one way or another or end up at the wrecker yard.

This is part of the reason for the appearance of a high price in for sale ads, at least 5 of the for sale by owner ads I replied to came back as some sort of dealer or broker :(

Cheers,
Ryan

Thanks, john
