Prius coolant storage tank...good?
 

Hey everyone, there is a Gen 1 Prius at a local wrecker. I have an 06 pontiac vibe. Are people finding that the thermos coolant storage tank is a worthwhile mod? Winter can be long here and -20C to -30C here is typical. Is it worth it?

If you can get it working, then I'd say 2 things:

1. Controlling it will be the key to success,
2. Document the progress on EcoModder!

Interesting thought.

My naysayer instinct immediately asks;

*why don't other manufacturers use an insulated coolant storage tank
*why did Toyota abandon it
*how much will it save vs time/cost to impliment

Then my curious instinct says to just do it so that we may learn. Not everything has to have a direct monetary payback.
