Prius III has virtually the same CdA as the Prius II

Kind of funny, but I was just updating my CdA list (and the wiki) and calculated the numbers for the new 2010 Prius. It got a little shorter, but a bit wider. Combined with the Cd drop, it comes out a TINY bit worse than the 04-09 Prius.

04-09 Prius CdA = 5.83
10 Prius CdA = 5.84

Of course, I'm using an estimated frontal area so it could really go either way. Just thought I'd share.

Interesting reminder that Cd alone isn't the whole picture. Nice.

I assume you meant 10 Prius, not 01 Prius...

Of course, fixed.

and since you mentioned the wiki,
Toyota's MR2 has a Cda of 5.7

And the CdA for Generation 4 (2017 plus) and Current (2023)?

Thanks so much. Very illuminating.
And does the CdA for the Gen IV (2017 ff) go down? Is it different for the 2017 Prius PRIME? And have you calculated CdA for the latest ... 2023.
Gratefully,
John

Don’t even need to check by math,
CDa is slightly worse on the Gen V Prius and it’s reflected in fuel economy also.

The Gen IV is slightly better, no idea Prime VRS non prime as the prime has dirtier parts but it’s longer

Gen's 4 and 5 and CDA

thanks.
Makes sense.
Toyota had been claiming a reduced area for the Gen 5 with a sharper nose but the mpg numbers seem to belie that.
Still would be interesting to know Prime vs. regular in Gen IV.
Prime rates a 133 emiles pg so I am thinking its slippery. Bubble glass in the back? knifier headlights in the front?
