Project Section

I know this may be more complicated than I will make it sound but is there any way we can create a section of the board for our projects?

Organized with a search my make and model in case anyone wants to do research on past successes and failures, but more importantly a place where we can record our own progress without our post being lost in a section that we will forget about later.

The lay out will be the same, with the most recent updates being displayed, but at least the search function would allow you to look up, metros for example and see each metro project that was done.

That would also make it easier and cleaner for us to maintain one post about our cars instead of 15 in 4 different forum sections.

Just food for thought ..

i like the idea. many of the other automotive sites i'm on have a dedicated forum for build-up progress. one really stands out with a feature i like. in the build-up section, only the person making the thread can reply to it. that way, all the "thats cool" comments are kept in the other forums, and there is also a place for an uncluttered log of modifications

I have had similar thoughts. People start "master threads" that highlight their car, but they are hard to find.

In the meantime, you could :

1 : ... do a "cheat" and create a trip log where each trip is a link to a new "mod".

Here's what I mean, but without links. I mostly use it to show oil changes :

Trip: Car Modifications
Fuel Economy, Hypermiling, EcoModding News and Forum - EcoModder.com

2 : ... start a "my car thread" and then edit the first post when you add mods. That way, people will be able to see a list of "your mods" all the start of the thread.

I like this idea, too. I also like Tony's idea of only the thread starter being able to post to it. What site are you referring to? You can PM me if you'd rather not say it 'out loud'.

oh, i don't care to post it, i'm just always hesitant to post a website address on another website (rivalry). but since this site isn't similar to the one i'm talking about, here ya go.

***warning, some foul language***

main site
VW hot rods

intro forum
here
check the sticky at the top, every member is required to make one of these before posting, that way they know who you are, and what how your project is doing, all in one thread.

i can see the "introductions" forum here changed around into something similar to the above.

Tony, no need to worry about rivalry on ecomodder, post whatever you think would be most useful to our members.

Anyway, we're currently working on a new garage, how about adding a project section to that? All of that stuff will be sortable by make/model, all we'd need to do is have a checkmark for "currently a project?" and have some extra data fields and a picture gallery. Makes sense?
