Proper behavior for climate deniers

1) Purchase a gasoline-powered GMC DENALI SUV. 'Professional Grade.'
2) Take a job at ACE HARDWARE.
3) Commute to the job 50-minutes before store opening.
4) Sit in the DENALI while you wait 50-minutes.
5) Leave the engine running for the entire 50-minutes, while you wait for the store to open, @ Zero-MPG.
6) Do this for five days a week.
7) Do this for 50-weeks a year.
8) 208.3-hours of idling per year.
9) 12,500-minutes of idling per year.
10) 750,000-seconds of idling per year.
11) 375,000-EPA air pollution cycles per year.
12) Have your DENALI's exhaust tested for the next 24-years, as County air quality is out of compliance with EPA Clean Air Standards.
13) Complain about the price of gasoline.
14) Have some children.
15) Let your behavior be the 'norm' for their formative years.

Not to nitpick, but: what's wrong with ACE?

Better to have a lambo, more comforts for some. I don't fit.

redpoint5 04-04-2022 01:21 PM

Denali, now that's a larger vehicle I hadn't considered for my growing family.

How about this frame;

While climate catastrophists waste their one and only life in unproductive misery, the rest of us will do the insanely hard work of continuing the species by creating children from nothing, and shaping their behavior to be pro-social and anti-depressive. As a reward for that noble effort, us mere mortals receive the fullest experience of the divine.

Why do you get to decide what is proper for other people?

Do you get a cut on Denali sales?

14) is good advice for anyone.

It just happens to be the venue where I've made the observation for weeks now.
COVID forced me into the cab of my truck over two years ago, and the ACE parking lot has opposing mast-mounted parking lot illumination, under which I use to 'study', before coming here at Copy-Pro for EcoModder.
I dress for the weather. Engine's off as soon as I park.
This is her normal routine.

The whole parking lot is full of Denali, idling?

This question makes me the most curious. Is Denali plural?

freebeard 04-04-2022 02:29 PM

Denalii?

As of a week ago, we're now a family of 4. The Mazda CX-5 is adequate for trips around town, but would be a challenge to go camping, and impossible to transport anyone outside of the immediate family.

Was thinking 6 seats as a minimum, 7 preferred. Pacifica plug-in or 7 seat version of Model Y or Model X or Model S. I'll have to see those Teslas in person to get a better feel for them. Probably not getting any new (used) vehicles anytime within the next year or so.

Since the plan likely involves becoming a family of 5, the prudent thing would probably be to just get the Pacifica.

That discribes a lot of believers too.
Some have electric cars and/or solar panels but they appear to be few and far between.

Just spent the weekend with one who has both.
Few and far between. So true!

If I have an electric truck, desire solar panels, but am skeptical on the back and forth science de jure..........that makes me what? Im thinking I'm like you, but that is really odd since I refuse to burn coal.

Oh how I wish it was that easy...

Even though I'm skeptical about man-made global warming, it doesn't mean I'm so favorable to gas-guzzlers when something more affordable and practical can get the job done, neither that a smaller vehicle should be mandated as some sort of one-size-fits-all approach.

I just noticed the comment.

It's an OEM VW part. They shipped in New Beetles and were supposed to be returned by the dealer, but I saw a stack of them at a swap meet. IIRC $8-10, I should've gotten more than one.

Still working on the electric car, all I have there is the Lexus rear axle.

My uncle had one of these at the McMinnville airport, but it failed as a restaurant.

There are many types of climate change activists who claim to have a different motivation, yet in the end they display the very same degree of radicalism, and once in a while violence.
