Pulsing and coasting...
Just a couple quick questions because I have a 6-speed manual transmission....
1) When you finish coasting, do you blip the throttle to "rev-match" or just ease out the clutch? 2) After coasting and you're back in gear with the clutch out, how much throttle do you use to get back up to speed? I just want to be sure I'm doing this right instead of just wasting gas. Many thanks in advance! :D:thumbup: |
What your fillups return will be a great (if slow) indicator of success.

1. It's better to blip the throttle to approximately rev match. It will save wear on the synchros.
2. There's no single answer, aside from accelerating at or near optimal engine efficiency. Wide throttle increases engine efficiency, but if you go too far, the ECU will enrich the fuel:air mixture. A ScanGauge is helpful here. |
Yea, speed matching will be better on your trans and clutch and also not slow you down any. As for throttle.....I am still trying to figure this out....

I do have a SGII and I know that if I keep the "LOD" down below 86 I will stay in closed loop mode. Through a little in-town driving today, I have managed to repeat my WOT LOD at 78 almost every time, if not just a tad below. Thanks guys! |
I barely kiss the clutch plates to start the engine. Then I rev match to pulse again. 83 LOD works well for accelerating in both my SE-R and xB. 83 LOD is moderate acceleration in the xB. It's spirited acceleration in the SE-R.
