QUIZ! Identify that electric car!

New fun quiz feature at EcoModder:

http://ecomodder.com/imgs-quiz/logo-eco-car-quiz.gif

Test your car recognition skills & see if you can beat the average score.

First quiz in the series: identify those 100% battery electric, brand new vehicles (not conversions), commercially produced in the past, present or near future.

Start here: Name That Eco Car! Choose a quiz - EcoModder.com

(I'll be adding more in the future, like a hybrid quiz, diesel quiz, most aero vehicles, hyperefficient concept cars... etc.)

I got fourteen out of twenty-two - F

MetroMPG 04-27-2009 12:38 PM

Sorry. I obscured the brand logos on the newer images :)

Christopher Jordan 04-27-2009 12:59 PM

86& - missed Vectrix and Bug E. I am hopeless.....

MetroMPG 04-27-2009 02:44 PM

Vectrix was hard, I'll admit. Not a lot showing in the teaser pic!

BugE... well... I'm a fan, so I'd recognize that one.

I'd love it if I could take the quiz without knowing the answers!

UfoTofU 04-27-2009 02:45 PM

I guessed the Vectrix and missed the BugE

TomO 04-27-2009 02:58 PM

16/22 75%
It's cool that I've seen that Zenn on the road near me before.

MetroMPG 04-27-2009 03:12 PM

Whoops - I just realized I included a car in our "100% battery electric" quiz that shouldn't be there.

TomEV 04-27-2009 07:38 PM

Just the press coverage of the 'electric' Volt putting you off your mark...

I missed two... (but I did manage to get the Citicar!)

gascort 04-27-2009 08:00 PM

The forkenswift!! I almost had to pick it!

dcb 04-28-2009 10:21 PM

Never really put it together what a large number of different electric vehicles there are before that quiz.

BTW, I just picked up "build your own Electric Vehicle" from the library, and they had "The complete book of Electric Vehicles" there, published in 1981, I'm sure lots of people here would love to thumb through it, just a dizzying array of vehicles in there.

Heres a thread with some pics of the 512 that is in the book

And it's not even close to being exhaustive.

There are a pile more NEVs available, and I left out more highway capable vehicles, like: Chrysler TEVan, Lectric Lepoard, GM S10 EV, Nissan had a car in California for the ZEV mandate (forget what it was called), several OEM vehicles sold in Europe...

Ryland 04-29-2009 11:46 AM

I got 17 out of 22.
I was hoping to do better as I've seen at least 4 or 5 of them in person.

NachtRitter 04-29-2009 10:45 PM

Dangit! Screwed up the Ford Ranger EV! I knew exactly what it was but picked the wrong one anyway. Got 18 out of 22 with that wrong choice, shoulda gotten 19 out of 22.

UfoTofU 05-11-2009 12:31 PM

Are you working on any other quizzes?

MetroMPG 05-16-2009 07:45 PM

YES! (Delayed response). As a matter of fact, I just finished adding another one, this one tests your recognition abilities for hybrid cars:

Name That Eco Car! Hybrid Vehicles - EcoModder.com

UfoTofU 05-16-2009 08:03 PM

I guessed nine

Christopher Jordan 05-16-2009 09:12 PM

I can see my interest for fossil fuel cars went right out the window! Electrics and/or 3-wheelers are on my mind too much (if that is possible)!

The EMC3 is gas powered, but such a "perfect" design with "perfect" accessories I love that 3-wheeler.

Great test; but I am starting to wonder if a three E exists like the three A!

RobertSmalls 05-16-2009 10:26 PM

I was unfamiliar with about half of these vehicles, but I managed a 68%.

I was really hoping to see the Forkenswift.

Bonus points to anyone who can identify this hybrid: http://www.mrsharkey.com/evgfx/push0.jpg

lectruck 05-16-2009 11:45 PM

19 out of 22, missed 3. I miss over half on the Hybrids. I know where my intrest is!!

Don

Hugh Jim Bissel 05-31-2009 01:30 AM

59% with WAY too much guessing.

got all the ones based on production cars (ranger, rav4, mini, guessed and got the smart) except the force: picked the "geo" answer, cause it is, except it wasn't. The citicar and the aptera I knew; guessed and got the tesla and the volt (after trying to call the venturi a volt). Most everything else was an educated or wild guess.

I read his adventures making and using the pusher trailer. Just went back and looked at his site. didn't remember it was professional conversion, but didn't remember reading about him converting it either.

From his website: :D

F.A.Q. Here are the most common questions to date:
Q: Is this really an electric car? A: No, I just didn't know how to spell "diesel".

new quiz

Just bumping this thread to let subscribed people know that we've added another one, this time about aerodynamic production cars:
