Not particularly aerodynamic, but certainly odd:

Ten years before the Ford retractable and 60 years before the Chevy HHR!

It was killed by the Tucker fiasco, with twice the production numbers.

I would definitely have driven that in high school. Top speed was better than my Studebaker.

World's biggest Moon disk?

JACG: When first flown in 1941, the Douglas XB-19 was not only the largest bomber in the world, it was also the the largest airplane ever built.

Open only when not in the air. After take-off the landing gear rotates sideways, so that the wheels fill in the opening of the thse wheelwells, and the moondisks make this filling smoother.

I've always been partial to the bubble-top coupe.

the 644th Ordnance Depot salvaged everything needed to make a “winter-proof” enclosure, a plastic top, windshield wipers, a spotlight and a windshield defroster.

also... Everything is better with a shark mouth:

Studebaker truck in China, 14th Air Force doing transport of supplies from Liuchow, an Eastern China airfield, photo dated Nov 8, 1944 with the Flying Tigers shark's tooth grin with a Curtiss C-46 Commando, the Japanese captured it shortly after this photo was taken
