They have a customer that has not even had the engine come on yet (over a year now) and is using his Prius as an EV only car. So, what we are going to do is run a few tanks of premium fuel through it and every other month take it on the freeway to burn the fuel up.

Now that would be an interesting vehicle to mod with your pre chambered lean burn!?

I think every car built today should be at a minimum, a mild hybrid.

48V, maybe even higher. Put the motor/generator where the harmonic balancer is. Get rid of any belts on front of engine. Run water pump, AC electrically.

Seems like this would be as cheap to build as an engine with separate alternator and starter.

Around here, a live, neutral and properly earthed earth wire/s and outdoor plug would be the permanent solution.

I suppose the rules and regulations requiring an electrical engineer from NASA to do all the work personally at a million $ per minute is the issue?
