Reflash ECU to avoid enrichment?

How difficult would it be to reflash an ECU (in my case, OBD1) to push back the throttle position at which it starts enriching fuel? Am I likely to understand the code? Any compelling reasons not to do this?

Your engine is programmed like that for a reason. You can very easily cause damage by leaning out the mixture.

These guy specialize in your equipment, although their focus is performance. They may be able to answer your questions.

I'm working on a system to replace wot enrichment with water from a separate injector on my msq car. About I'm thinking about 4:1 fuel to water above 80kpa manifold pressure while still running stoich.

easier to adjust the throttle cable to just never get more then 1/2 throttle.

Interesting enough, below about 3000 rpm half throttle gives plenty of air for "full power" if you are not willing to enrich. Below that RPM half throttle flows enough air to pretty much eliminate vacuum.

go buy a vacuum gauge or scan tool - pretty fun to have a buddy drive around and watch what is happening..... too much info to do the driving yourself and watch the gauges and be safe.

That's a thought, thanks! I'll probably get a vacuum gauge.
