Rejoining the 30MPG Club
Well, 30MPG this tank--high twenties previously.
I've learned: - The Highlander Hybrid's transmission (CVT) hates 45MPH and delivers crappy fuel economy (low twenties) at that speed. - Five minute increase in travel time (different road) nets +7MPG (see above). - 60MPH is the best speed for highway--I believe Motor Trend noted that "maximum electric assist" occurs in the 2011 Highlander Hybrid at 60MPH. This appears to hold true for the first generation. - 89 octane FTW. This tank was roughly 60% city, 40% highway. Also, I take extreme umbridge with only being credited as "3% over EPA"--:D--from what I've read you can't get anywhere close to EPA in this car without hypermiling in some sense... So it's really "% above the average driver (low twenties) who has no chance in hell to get the sticker" :thumbup: |
