Removing 1.9L TDI ALH head bolts
Is there some magical trick to removing these bolts? I'm parting out my sister's old engine, and I can not for the life of me get these things to break loose. I have the triple square bit. I tried with my breaker bar, and then with an extension on my breaker bar. I then got an adapter so I could use my electric impact (that takes off most crank pulley bolts) and they STILL will not come out.

You need a half inch impact wrench or a half inch drive breaker bar and extension pipe.
It's doubtful any mortal human can break them free with regular 3/8 drive hand tools not using a cheater bar. |
"Torque-to-yield" bolts are designed to not loosen (by themselves), and is *why* they shouldn't/can't be reused once removed, but rather MUST be replaced with new.

All that I know was I thought I was ruining my engine when I removed the head bolts from the Subaru and Bacon seemed to let out a death knell.
