Removing Spark Plug Wires
Hi Everyone: I just purchased a 1998 Dodge Neon and I want to change the spark plugs but the wires seem really hard to pull off and I didn't want to break them. Is there a way to get them off easily. Thanks, Jack

No real advice, but just be sure to pull on the spark plug wire boot and not the wire itself.

Twist the boot first to break it free from the plug if the PO didn't use dielectric grease on the boots, then pull off.
|
+2, twist the boot until it breaks free. Sometimes old ones just break.

Twist and pull! Don't be afraid :)
If they tear or break, it's time for new ones anyway ;) |
spend $15 and get a new set of wires while you are at it.

Twisting and pulling on the boots at the same time will usually break them loose. If the boots are easy to get to you can wrap a rag around the boot to keep from damaging it and use a pair of pliers for more leverage if needed. Be sure when you replace the plugs to use anti seize on the threads and dielectric grease inside the rubber boots on the plug wires so they won't be such a pain the next time.
