"Black Box"
Is It Possible To Combine Performance And Good Mileage? It Is With CB Performance's New Easy-To-Install Electronic Ignition System. Even though this is on the HotVWs website, and in the current issue, they say Quote:
Here's a map for the Bosch 009 https://www.hotvws.com/images/hot_vw...oto2_620px.jpg Quote:

Interesting. I would not try it without being tied to or adding a knock sensor. Not too hard, I've added these before when tuning Engine knock detection and indication for all vehicles

Zombie thread. I noticed it while looking or something else.
The CB Performance billet distributor is gone. It was not the black box, just a Hall effect sensor in a custom housing. It cost $350 new, after two years, every steel part inside was badly corroded and the sensor had fallen into pieces. CB Performance said the corrosion was "due to ozone. They all do that." By the time it was repaired and back in the car, it was up to ~$800 total and obviously inoperative. So I'm back to an 009 and Pertronix with a thousand dollar learning experience. |
