Tesla teen tested

A teenage driver with five teen occupants lost control going through a curve at excessive speeds, the Model S flew through the air and executed a 'Falcon 5' crash landing. The Tesla's engine-less frunk crush zone absorbed the impact and kept the passenger cell intact. The teens survived with non-life threatening injuries.

Maybe a firmware update can allow parents to set top speed limits.

That crash is way more impressive than my VW bug rollover when I was 18. Too bad there is no dashcam footage.

Who can ensure the teens won't find a way to overcome it?

Who never went too far as a teen at least once?

As I see it ... the point of the story is that we do everything that we can to make sure that 'stupid things we do' .. whether as teenagers or not .. should not be treated as 'capital crimes', with the death sentence for everyone in the car

My teen years were pretty tame by comparison. And so, .. I think .. were my children's. BUT I'd like my grandson to survive such a mistake if at all possible!

Makes sense. Anyway, you might have already seen some folks claiming that all the evolution in the safety features had a side-effect of making unskilled drivers feel somewhat over-confident.

I dunno... Even now, I'm certainly not the most traffic law-abiding person around, but I managed to get through my teen years driving "wrecklessly" - at least if you discount the time the front control arm fell off the family Chevy, and even that was more a case of grinding to a stop.

I did x3. I went 140+ multiple times in my Mustang. I got so lucky I never killed myself/anyone else. These kids are very lucky they were in the car they were in.

Ditto. I ended up on Ecomodder some time after blowing the original B16A3 in my Del Sol, hitting 8000RPM in 5th gear on I-95. looking back, I'm amazed I came out of my late teen years alive.

I reset the odometer on my CBR600 and went on a ride through the back roads. When I got back home exactly 1 hour later, I had covered 100 miles. This included stopping at all stop signs and obeying speed limits through small towns.

Obviously, the Tesla is more forgiving of errors.
