Funny, I was just getting ready to place an order today...

I'm curious. How did you get a whole new sub-forum instead of posting in For Sale?

Awesome!

I was about to order a timing belt kit from RockAuto when I stopped by what I thought was a do-it-yourself repair shop. I just wanted to know if I needed to order anything. They convinced me to have them do the work. Another mechanic told me afterward that by ordering my own parts, I cut out the retailer and the mechanic.

I could have saved two hundred dollars!

"Hey Mr. Wrench, I am such a nice guy that I went ahead and saved you the time of tracking down my parts and ordering them! I hope you appreciate it!" :)

They're now a sponsor.
Could all those ads that append to posts (w/o AdBlocker) be moved here?

Yup, Rock Auto is sponsoring the forum -- and we're happy to have both their support and the discount for members.

If this were a "conventional" car forum, there would be all kinds of vendors. Alas, the eco-aftermarket-parts industry has not been knocking our door down. :D

(EDIT: with the exception of Linear Logic, which has furnished prizes for our birthday party for years and deserves a big Thank You also.)

Thanks rockauto!! I have all of your magnets all over the fridge.

This is awesome that RockAuto is sponsoring the site! I get many non-performance parts from them and ALL parts for my car!

I order from rcokauto fairly regularly and have had good results with every part they have sent me. Have not had a single issue with quality or fitment, which is always appreciated when it comes to having to redo anything.

I did have to remove the rear antisway bar of my Sentra when I installed the rear struts since they had no privision for attaching the end links, but they were Gabriel closeouts and at $45 shipped to my door they were at least 60% cheaper than any other option.

Highly recommended by an old mechanic who used to use OEM almost exclusively to avoid fitment and warranty issues. So far no real problem other than the single issue mentioned above, which still did NOT result in a call to them or any return of any part purchased from them.

regards
mech

Be forewarned if the wrong part is ordered than you have to send it back at your expense. Several times orders have been placed only to be the wrong part. Even when the "right" part was ordered!! Unfortunately it was not worth paying to have it shipped back. (shipping exceeded the cost of the part)

Moral of the story is sometimes it is better getting the part locally.

Did you call them and see what they would do for you? If you received a part that doesn't match your invoice, or the manufacturer miss packaged / mislabeled something, Ive never had any reputable company fail to go above and beyond when one of their guys pulled the wrong part, or the problem was with their supplier.
