Roof rack load brings slight aero penalty

Is this some kind of Mr. Bean contraption?

Nice bug.
Someone is gently mocking the roof rack craze. I'm a Top Gear fan too but the first thing I thought of was Shakey Jake's 'Worst of show" car from the 1980s. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...ShakeyJake.jpg http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/shakey-jake-man-or-myth.382154/ This was before he added the '59 Cadillac tail fins. |

It's going to be hard to top Frank Lee's.
But here's a thesamba thread were they are counting the Jim Dandy roof racks in existence, and calling out the imposters. Real: http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/145204.jpg very high quality reproduction, notice the drip rail fittings: http://images.thesamba.com/vw/classi...ix/6896523.jpg Imposter; cleaner, with wood slats. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...tings/rack.jpg |
Notice that the green Bug has two coolers that are relatively the same color as the car. The owner has style!

Extra points for an air-cooled cup holder!
I occasionally use my 3 foot rack and bike rack (w/ front bumper tie-down) to carry materials up to 10-16ft long. |
