Round test routes
I have been testing my cars in front to back test drives on same road so far, but where I currently live in Dusseldorf I found even better test route. Its a straigth loop. Few days back I tested that I am able to drive that loop around going 80km/h which is a good test speed for aero and rolling resistance balance. 22,8km long route is long enough.

Route is pretty level but first testing will tell how well that limited injection works or do speeds get too high on the few turns. The one on the right is the tightest and trickiest. Route there has at least 2 lanes to same direction so impact to other cars is minimal, but still will do the testing later so its safer. |
What do you think you could learn on a 100ft [30.48m] circle? I think of tuft testing on the inner half of the car.

Vekke, will you do 2 runs - 1 in each direction?

with a circle no need to test to both directions as wind is already compensated by the route. also not possible to the other direction as there is tighter turns.
i will measure only time which is more accurate. there you can calculate avg speeds etc. |

It calculates route, average speed, distance, time and even elevation profile. (I think it was developed for cycling, but it is pretty useful for cars also.) |
