RTM Tango

Hello,

Has anybody seen this "scooter" before?

[QUOTE]The Tango

What is it? It's a wannabe car that's a scooter.
What does it look like? It could pass for a younger cousin of the Mini Cooper or Volkswagen Bug.
How fast does it drive? The 50cc engine goes about 30 mph. The 190cc hits 40 to 50 mph.
What is its target market? Older riders, drivers, businesses, handicapped and disabled drivers.
How much does it weigh? 430 pounds.
What is its capacity? 2 passengers.
What's the mileage? The fuel tank holds 2.6 gallons, and vehicles can get up 65 to 70 mpg.
How much does it cost? The actual vehicle costs $6, 399 for a 50cc engine and $6, 899 for a 190cc engine. The cost of a fill-up is $8.047, and insurance could cost $225 to $325 a year.[QUOTE]

GekGo Scooters Gas Scooters, Electric Scooters, Motorcycles, ATV'S, At Wholesale Prices, New & Used Scooters, New ATV's, New and Used Motorcycles, Trikes, Automotive Power Equipment, Parts and Service, Accessories, & Clothing has it on there quite expensive for a motorcycle classed vehicle. Don't get me wrong I want one though.

Some sort of name infringement maybe. That skinny Tango seemed to be first with the name on the west cast of the US, but that wider Tango has been in the 'reverse trikes' website as a rental on the east coast. San Francisco rents those, and a few blocks away - the Trigger (GoCar). I think those rentals are 49cc powered.

NeilBlanchard -

Cool beans! Looks like that teeny island car that Jeremy Jackson was driving in a Top Gear episode.

Here's a very simplistic power-to-weight ratio comparison of the 190 cc version :

430 lbs / 16.7 HP = 25.74 lbs/HP

Now add one 160 lb driver :

590 lbs / 18.7 HP = 35.32 lbs/HP

My car :

2456 lbs / 120 HP = 20.47 lbs/HP

Now add one 160 lb driver :

2616 lbs / 120 HP = 21.80 lbs/HP

Ha ha, I'd better go on a diet!

EDIT: 50 MPH max makes it no-problemo fine for around-town driving. I am guessing that it is "motorcycle-emissions" compliant.

I've totally seen the GoCar.... Enough to have a few close calls - being nearly hit in the Embarcadero by tourists that aren't paying attention to where they're driving :D

I still rather have this

freewayhmv : The HMV Free-way is a 3 wheel car built in the early 80s. HMV Freeway three wheeled three wheel

100mpg is better, also I seem to remember the actual mileage of the tango was around 50mpg I wonder what model and what speed get you 60-70mpg?

That 3-wheel Tango has been around a while as a 49 cc rental I think. About 10 years ago those were also in SF with 2 extra wheels near the side (but off the ground) on stabilizers to keep it from tipping over; like side wheelie bars. If it is the same one I am thinking of- it is still being rented about 1 block behind Embarcedero in SF.

The trike had a page in Reverse Trikes with purchase in Florida. The 4-wheel Tango was in Washington State and cost a small fortune.
