I ended up getting the '01 Saturn L200 back from the mother of my son earlier this year and with a [new] new/used engine and good tires, no less!
The new engine is from an '03 L-series, so there are no more timing chain issues as with the first gen of the L-series EcoTec engines to worry about. The car has 275K overall on it now, engine less than 100k based on documented mileage and add'l mileage since install.
I'm really gona try to stick with this one, guys... I promise. Some of the things I plan on doing with this car aside from fixing the unfortunate deer damage are:
- PS Delete w/ block off plate [driven by intake cam]
- AC delete [already bypassed, pump locked up]
- General weight loss program
- Smooth wheel covers [pizza pans]
- HID BiXenon upgrade with LED low-side lamps and no DRL circuit.
- Skid plate [already knocked a hole in 1 oil pan, no more spares available]
- Belly pan leading into rear diffuser
- Straight exhaust, insulated and tucked high into the tunnel
- Rear disc brakes [not efficiency related, but personal preference]
- Upper grille block
- Ducted radiator flow from the lower grille
- more to come possibly
